LCBS-SILVER-BAND-CONCERT-ALWAYS-AND-FOREVER

Sam was born in Toronto, moved to Utah shortly after he was born, and received his education in Utah, graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor in Music with an emphasis in Secondary Music Education as well as a minor in Business Management.

He plays trombone and started at age 14, joining the band program in Grade 10 and found he loved it! He soon realized he wanted to become a band director because I realized that music was keeping me grounded and I knew it could do the same for others. In addition to playing in school ensembles during his undergrad, Sam played trombone in the Olympic Spirit Band, the official band for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Utah's Ultimate Trombone Ensemble, culminating in a appearance at the 2008 International Trombone Festival.

Samuel Yamamoto has been teaching Jr/Sr High School Band at Magrath since the 2008 where he directs the Spirit of Alberta Marching Band, Elementary Band, three Junior High Bands, a High School Concert Band and Choir. He currently lives in Lethbridge and in his leisure time enjoys cooking, reading, running, DJing for parties and weddings and spending time with his wife Lindy and family.
