DR. JOSH DAVIES - FOUNDER AND BRASS DIRECTOR - LCBS BRASS BAND
Josh Davies is an accomplished trumpeter, clinician, adjudicator who has played with multiple North American symphonies and brass ensembles.
Dr. Josh Davies is a two-time Grammy nominated performer that enjoys a diverse career as a versatile performer and educator. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe in places such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas and the Southern Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary. Josh can be heard on over 20 CD's with various labels in jazz, classical, alternative, rock, latin, tejano, and funk styles.
Josh regularly performs with the Kamloops Symphony in Kamloops, BC, and the Regina Symphony in Regina, SK in Canada. Outside of Canada he often performs with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la UANL (Monterrey Symphony Orchestra) in Monterrey, Mexico, where he held the position of co-principal trumpet for the 2009-2010 season. Prior to moving to Lethbridge he was principal trumpet of the Round Rock Symphony for four years and has also performed with symphony orchestras of Austin, Abilene, Brazos Valley, Lethbridge, Monterrey, Monterrey Chamber, San Antonio Chamber, Temple, and Victoria, as well as The Austin Chamber Ensemble The Austin Chamber Winds, The Austin Lyric Opera and the Monterrey Metropolitan Opera Company.
As an educator, Dr. Davies is an Academic Assistant at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, AB, Canada where he teaches studio trumpet, jazz history and is the director of the U of L Jazz Ensemble. Previous university teaching positions include Temple College and The University of Texas at Austin, Concordia University-Texas and Texas State University. He regularly presents master classes and performances at universities and festivals throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Dr. Davies holds a Doctoral of Musical Arts and a Master of Music degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelors of Music degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His principal teachers include Michael Miller, Edward Bach, and Ray Sasaki (trumpet); Steve Haines, Dennis Dotson, and Jeff Helmer (Jazz).
Josh collaborates as Brass Director with the Brass Band Conductor, Tanya Arnold.
